Rocksteddy is now Rapsteddy, releases rap album "Kinagat ng Seven Lions"

Rapsteddy's (Rocksteddy) album launch last April 29, 2015.

No, you cannot find Pinoy rock band Rocksteddy in the music scene nowadays, because for now they are called Rapsteddy. The popular band, composed of frontman Teddy Corupuz, lead guitarist Juven Pelingon, drummer Jeff Cucullo, and bassist Christian Sindico, has temporarily switched to rap music, launching their 4th and latest studio album Kinagat ng Seven Lions, with the hit single "Katol."

"Pangkatuwaan lang naman ito," quipped Sindico at the presscon. "Sa next album namin, babalik din kami sa music namin talaga—rock. Babalik kami sa Rocksteddy."

Corpuz jokingly said, "Pwede rin kaming maging Jazzsteddy, Popsteddy, Bluesteddy..."

But it's not surprising if the guys take Corpuz' joke seriously, as Kinagat ng Seven Lions proves that switching genres is no biggie for the prolific and artistic band. The album boasts of six impressive and creatively written hip hop tracks, with the band's signature novelty and humorous lyrics depicting Pinoy contemporary culture.

"Katol," with the music video already released, is indeed the funniest of the bunch, with the catchy chorus instantly causing LSS: Tinatamad akong gumalaw/tinatamad din tumayo/Nay, Tay, pasensiya na kayo/dahil sabog lang ako sa katol...

Fans of Rocksteddy will be surely pleased with the band's hip hop music gimmick this year, and would delight that the CD is actually a freebie—if you buy a box of Thunder Katol (Php199), in any records store, or the supermarket. And it's up to you if you want to follow the friendly advisory: "Para mas epektibo at swabeng pakikinig, sindihan ang katol habang pinakikinggan ang CD!"

"Break Na Tayo," from their 2nd studio album Patipatotpanabla, was nominated for Best Music Video of the Year in the 2008 Awit Awards, and in 2014 they bagged a nomination for Best Performance  by a Group for their single "Drown" in the same prestigious music awards.

Rocksteddy has plenty of endorsements, including Unilever's Close-up and the long-running Ginuman Fest by Ginebra San Miguel, and Teddy Corpuz is still actively hosting ABS-CBN's noontime show It's Showtime, along with Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, and Billy Crawford.
